A Promising Future for ASIMCO ASM when the New Clients and Projects Emerge One after Another
2020.04.30

2020 was an eventful year and the most challenging year for ASIMCO ASM. At the end of 2019, the company’s management team made the strategy plan. Specifically, the company would adhere to the business principle of new growth and cost reduction, focus efforts on expanding sales and overcome the negative effects from a decline in client orders in the first half of 2020, and would try to go through 2020, stride toward 2021 and embrace a nice future in 2022. This strategy plan extracted important tasks, focused on key issues, made significant breakthroughs, and guaranteed the success of some new projects like Autoliv.

Autolive is a Sweden-based multinational, which was founded in 1956, and specializes in the production of vehicle electronic safety system, seat belt system, electronic control units and vehicle steering wheel system. Now Autolive is the world’s largest manufacturer of “vehicle passenger protection system”. Autoliv Collar project, as the platform parts, features large market demand and high requirements for quality and safety parts, and has an annual sales of about 20 million Yuan. Now it’s the most important project for the company.

Given tight schedule and heavy tasks, the company’s teams concerned worked closely to identify the project demand. It’s urgent to import equipment because of the insufficient production capacity of key equipment. It’s originally planned that the equipment completed its installation and debugging at the end of April and the batch manufacturing was started in May. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic just before the Spring Festival rendered its really hard to import equipment. In this situation, the procurement department keep in close contact with the manufacturer and conduct the remote monitoring of production progress to ensure the project’s development as planned. After the coordination among multiple parties and updating logistics information timely, the equipment finally reached the production site. At the same time, because the manufacturer’s technicians couldn’t install the new equipment on site, the company sought help from other companies. Due to the around-the-clock work, the equipment installation and debugging was completed even three days ahead of schedule.

The company’s technicians waited for no moments to start trial production, analyze measurement system, study product process performance, and conduct the comprehensive process validation to ensure the equipment’s ability to produce PPAP. The company actively contacted clients to submit the related testing and validation results, and arrange the remote auditing in a video-based way. Thanks to the concerted efforts, the company passed the PPAP audit of two Collar products on April 1, 2020, and submitted the samples on April 3. Now the company has passed the client testing and trial operation orders in batches. SOP is expected to start in June 2020.

The first Collar, co-launched by the company alongside Autoliv, has started batch product. The new product completed the total sales of over 800,000 units during the first quarter. It has delivered the clients’ demands in the light of quality and delivery, and cemented Autoliv’s confidence in supplying products for ASIMCO ASM. All the employees’ assiduous work has reaped recognition from clients. Two new projects with an expected annual sales of over ten million yuan, including Stopper and Latch, has begun the designation cooperation, and passed the phase-1 audit. Meanwhile, a large project Gates has been started as well.
