ASIMCO Shanxi was granted the China Classification Society (CCS) Factory Certificate, which represented an approved access to the platform of ships and offshore facilities on July 19, 2021.
Since April 2020, the company has applied to CCS Tianjin Branch for factory certification with the purpose of better addressing client demands and gradually implementing the “product diversification” strategy. In May, the CCS Tianjin Branch officially started the certification work. Afterwards, the company organized a special meeting to determine the type of products (gray cast iron + nodular cast iron) and prepared the related materials and test outlines, and submitted such documents to CCS for review.
In May 2021, the company’s CCS factory certification work entered the on-site sampling and audit stage. During audit, ship surveyors carefully checked the production process, lab environment and testing facilities and standards of gray cast iron and nodular cast iron and even conduct random sampling by consulting related documents, asking questions and sampling on site. After the strict on-site audit, the ship surveyors made positive comments on the company’s conditions for guaranteeing its product quality control. They concluded that the product quality control system operated effectively, the production and testing devices were well prepared, the testing technology was advanced, and the sample testing process and results complied with the related requirements of testing outlines and CCS’s Rules for Materials and Welding. On July 19, the company was granted the CCS Factory Certificate, which remains valid for four years, but must be subject to annual audit. CCS is China’s national ship surveying institution and a national authority for ship classification and inspection business.
The company’s success in the CCS factory certification reveals that the effective operation of its quality control system and its high quality of products and technologies have been recognized by the national authorities, and marks the company’s approved access to China’s ship market, thus sharpening its market competitiveness and creating a necessary condition for the implementation of its “product diversification strategy”.
